BCTF Public Education Conference
*Circulated on behalf of BC Teachers’ Federation
The BC Teachers Federation is hosting a conference on May 12/13 that I thought you might be interested in. It’s called the Public Education Conference and the theme is responding to hate in our schools and communities. The event is intended for parents and union members working towards equity and justice in public education and is being held in Surrey. Registration is directly through the BCTF so interested parents and teachers can reach out to Anna Chudnovsky, Assistant Director of Political Action and Outreach at the BCTF (achudnovsky@bctf.ca) to register. All costs are covered by the BCTF. Please see the description below for more information.
Note, there is not a public website announcing this workshop as it is an invitation only event.
On Friday evening we are lucky to be hearing from the BC Human Rights Commissioner Kasari Govender, along with former BCTF president Glen Hansman, followed on Saturday by a series of workshops from the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, a variety of elected trustees from the region, as well as students and education advocates.
