KFA Bulletin: Support for Global Climate Strikes
Dear Faculty Association Members,
The KFA stands in solidarity with everyone participating in the youth-led Global Climate Strike Actions planned for Friday, September 27, throughout the Metro Vancouver area. We encourage you to work with students who may be affected by the Climate Action Strikes by making alternate arrangements for quizzes, exams, and other classroom activities.
You may also wish to support your students by attending actions yourself. If there is a conflict with your work or teaching schedule, you may request time off from your Dean or supervisor.
If you encounter a picket line, here is what you need to know:
– The KFA respects all legal picket lines.
– As a KFA member you have the right not to cross a legal picket line without fear of discipline from your employer.
– A picket line is only illegal once the Labour Relations Board rules that it is. In other words, any picket line should be considered a legal picket line until such time as the Labour Relations Board declares otherwise.
If you have any questions, please contact us at 604-599-2200
In Solidarity,
Your KFA Table Officers
