Update on Over-Enrollment Grievance
Colleagues,
This is to update you regarding our grievance on the class over-enrollment issues.
Last Friday afternoon, the KFA met with the Employer, represented by Dr. Davis, for the Step 3 grievance meeting. I am happy to report that the meeting went smoothly, and the KFA had a good opportunity to present our case. As you know, we have firmly and consistently asserted that these actions were wrong, and that they must cease and desist, and that they must properly negotiate faculty compensation. The Employer’s response is officially due on or before June 15th.
In the meantime since that grievance meeting, we have worked with FPSE to draft and prepare the letters specified in the resolution passed at the FPSE AGM, letters to the Board, to the Minister and to our regional MLAs, stating FPSE’s strong opposition to these actions on the part of our Employer.
Yesterday, we received assurances from the Employer that we will receive their response to the grievance in advance of the deadline, by Tuesday next week. In good faith, pending that response and our review of it, we have requested FPSE to delay sending the letters.
Last but certainly not least, thank you for all of your support during this grievance process. The encouraging words in email, on the phone, and in the hallways have been more helpful than any of you could imagine, and we thank you sincerely for them.
We will keep you informed as to the Employer’s response and our next steps.
In solidarity,
Diane
