Call for Applications: New Communications Coordinator position in the KFA
The Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA) is seeking a Communications Coordinator for a 25% release position from September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019.
Reporting to the KFA President, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with KFA office staff to support the five Table Officers and the Executive in communicating to the KFA membership about the issues that impact our welfare and working conditions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation, review, dissemination and overall coordination of the thoughtful and timely delivery of KFA news and information. They will assist KFA leadership in developing a communications strategy that engages KFA stakeholders via social media, the KFA website, and other appropriate media.
Some key specific duties will include the following:
- Create content, edit and publish (in digital format) the union newsletter (KFACTS)
- Develop, with Table Officers, a stakeholder communication strategy, that includes but is not limited to:
- Posting regular social media feeds to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
- Integrating social media feeds with the KFA website
- Contact media regarding campaigns or promotions (i.e. newspapers, billboard postings, etc.)
- Assist with creation of promotional posters, videos, swag, etc.
Additionally, the incumbent will attend Table Officer and KFA Executive meetings as needed to assist with drafting communications in a variety of media.
The successful candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills; be proficient with social media promotional strategies, digital design and communications; and be knowledgeable in Word Press. Ideally, the candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of post-secondary labour management issues, union principles and the internal organizational processes of Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The ability to generate time-sensitive content under deadline pressure and to maintain confidentiality on issues under discussion is critical for successful fulfillment of this position.
This position is open to all regular faculty members of the Kwantlen Faculty Association in good standing.
